Carnegie Rocks
What would Andrew Carnegie look like if he played for Yinz2?
Not only did I get to meet the man last weekend, but I also got to re-imagine him for a logo design for a concert of local rock and alternative groups in the Music Hall at Andrew Carnegie Free Library & Music Hall.Don’t miss it if you’re local!

The image cropped from a photo portrait.
I started out with one of our file photos of Andrew Carnegie and a photo of an electric guitar from one of the concerts I’d photographed. I flipped the image to fit better with my design idea, then placed the guitar where I wanted it. I clipped out his hands and flipped and shaded and whatever I needed to do to place them correctly, then started coloring!
Of course, I had to pattern the colors and style on the series Andy Warhol created based on his portrait of Andrew Carnegie, seen in this photo from when Warhol’s work toured Scotland. One also hangs in the lobby of the Carnegie Museum of Art, which is the one I know best, as seen below in a photo I took on a visit to the museum a few years ago. The man looms large around here, both Carnegie and Warhol, as they do over this scene.
And in a more “poppy” style…
