3rd Street Yoga Certificate

The client, and also my yoga teacher, not only hosts regular yoga classes but is also a licensed yoga teacher-training school. The certification board stipulated a certificate that could not be easily reproduced to give to her students.

I used Joanne’s two colors, cobalt blue and soft orange. Since the certificate should not be able to be reproduced, I chose Canson pastel drawing paper in the color “Honeysuckle”, having them printed on the textured side. The design is printed entirely in the cobalt blue and has the icon from her logo screened in the background, also difficult to reproduce, and I also designed them to be square, about 8″ x 8″.

To further customize and prevent easy reproduction, the certificate number is to be written in gold as well as Joanne’s signature on the lines in the center, and we had a stamp with the client’s logo with a gold stamp pad to add to —one of the corners overlapping some printed area. Anyone who would try to reproduce all that should just go and take the classes!

Joanne frequently shares quotes with her students, so I used one that seemed appropriate for this certificate: Love yourself and be awake-Today, tomorrow, always. First establish yourself in the way, Then teach others, And so defeat sorrow. To straighten the crooked You must first do a harder thing-Straighten yourself. You are your only master. Who else? Subdue yourself, And discover your master. from the Dhammapada

I rarely get to use unusual scripty fonts because, though they are lovely and graceful, they are difficult to read and most of the time I’m trying to catch someone’s attention with an advertisement or brochure where a more legible font is important. Here, however, I could use two of my favorites.

I truly love this color combination, and we’ve designed many other unique items from a website, signage and a punch card for classes. You can see more of these designs on the 3rd Street Yoga customer page on my website.
