The NewLanders have moved up to the present day in their musical offerings and written a song about the Steelers, complete with authentic sounds from the steel mill in the background.
I had the opportunity to design the CD, and if anyone knows how I feel about the Steelers it just might be that I don’t come up with an appropriately adoring design. No, I haven’t suddenly given in and fallen under the spell of the Steelers, I just happen to have another customer who has created a product commemmorating the Steelers! Hard to avoid in Pittsburgh, but I’m all for promoting anyone’s enthusiasm. Not everyone recognizes images of steel mills anymore, and that’s not really our image. I decided to use one of my photos of Pittsburgh at New Year’s and applied a PhotoShop filter to it so that the city looks to be glowing with gold light, much the way the working mills looked years ago. That glowing light will always illuminate Pittsburgh, if only in memory.
The CD will be available at the end of October. Visit The NewLander’s website for more information.
